People from the community meet on a Sunday in a cafe to sing songs like the old days
Community links need to be strengthened and joy introduced into people's lives in order to thrive. Singing has been known to increase well-being and has been used throughout history to provide an escape through difficult times. This weekly meet would be a relaxed occasion, where people can just turn up, have a coffee or tea, and sing together if they wish to. This is not a choir - there could be piano (or other instrument) accompaniment, but people could sit or stand, there is no leader, simply spontaneous singing like there used to be when there was no TV - think campfire singing but in a community space or cafe. The benefit is that people would socialise and mix regardless of age, children would enjoy it as much as older people and everyone in between. This would also appeal to people who like community spirit but perhaps do not have religious beliefs - an alternative community gathering.
